Materials rated for protection with thin coats should be applied skillfully to maintain adequate thickness. [Pg.150]

Any mechanistic study undertaken using quantum chemistry methods requires considerable physical and chemical insight. Thus for a thermal reaction, there is no method that will generate automatically all the possible mechanistic pathways that might be relevant. Rather, one still needs to apply skills of chemical intuition, and it is necessary to make sensible hypotheses that can then be explored computationally. In excited state chemistry, these problems are even more difficult, and we hope the examples given in the last section provide a bit of this required insight. However, the DBH example shows just how complex these problems can become when many electronic excited states are involved. [Pg.140]

Applying procedures can be complex. A person must differentiate the dangerous situation and procedure from all other similar ones. A person must apply skill to complete the procedure. It may be necessary to practice the procedure often to retain the proper skill level. A person must have the physical capabilities to perform the procedure. All actions must occur in a timely manner. Failure in any one of these steps can result in inadequate protection. [Pg.95]

Raffinate Splitter Startup Procedures and Application of Skills and Krwwledge Failure to follow the startup procedure contributed to the loss ofprocess control. Key individuals (management and operators) displayed lack of applied skills and knowledge and there was a lack of supervisory presence and oversight during this startup. [Pg.108]

Continuity doesnl only have to come from external sources. In life, we provide our own continuities by applying skills learned in one part of our life to situations we find in another. [Pg.396]
