Applications of PLA based bioplastics

The medical field provides early applications of PLA, for use as suture and in dmg delivery. Usage as bioplastics is also attracting more and more attention. Biaxially oriented film for food packaging is a major application of PLA because of its excellent barrier for flavor constituents and heat scalability (Smith et al., 2001).
