Applications of geotextiles in private development

This section presents some common application areas dealing with commercial development projects. [Pg.497]

There are a number of purposely fabricated woven and nonwoven geotextiles used for sediment control at storm water inlets. The products are designed to be installed within the inlet and act as the final barrier for sediment. These products can be placed curbside, as shown in Fig. 22.3(a) or placed around an inlet (as in Fig. 22.3(b)) to capture sediment and continue to allow drainage. [Pg.497]

There are a few cases of synthetic erosion blankets (soft armor) that have a light nonwoven incorporated into the erosion mat to create a geocomposite. The synthetic mat allows the rhizome layer of the vegetation to be reinforced and the nonwoven provides a filter layer to prevent the movement of fines. [Pg.498]

Geotextiles used as separators for unpaved and paved roads as well as parking lots represent the largest volume of geotextiles sold in the civil construction market. The [Pg.498]

In applications of separation, the typical grab strength of geotextiles ranges from 900 to 315 N they are usually silt film wovens. Costs range from 0.35 to 0.65/m for these separation geotextiles. [Pg.501]
