Antimony cluster anions

Antimony cluster/complexes anions, 1240 cations, 1240 neutrals, 1239 Aromatic compounds ArH C-C bonds... [Pg.1622]

Photoelectron spectroscopy has been performed on [Sb ] and [Bi ] cluster anions with photon energies of 4.03 eV and in some cases S.OeV [100], For the small clusters, density functional theory calculations of the detachment energies are presented. The geometric structures of the small anionic antimony and bismuth clusters are similar, and similar to those of other group 15 elements. For the neutral and anionic trimers nonlinear geometries, in particular Jahn-Teller-distorted triangles were obtained. [Pg.233]

The polyhedral boranes and carboranes discussed above may be regarded as boron clusters in which the single external orbital of each vertex atom helps to bind an external hydrogen or other monovalent atom or group. Post-transition main group elements are known to form clusters without external ligands bound to the vertex atoms. Such species are called bare metal clusters for convenience. Anionic bare metal clusters were first observed by Zintl and co-workers in the 1930s [2-5], The first evidence for anionic clusters of post-transition metals such as tin, lead, antimony, and bismuth was obtained by potentiometric titrations with alkali metals in liquid ammonia. Consequently, such anionic post-transition metal clusters are often called Zintl phases. [Pg.17]

A considerable range of iron carbonyl clusters is now known to contain antimony or bismuth, and later developments have seen this extended to ruthenium and osmium complexes. Whitmire (711) has described the reaction between NaBi03 and methanolic [Fe(CO)5], which affords the anionic triiron cluster [BiFe3(CO)10] (108), which contains a tetrahedral BiFe3 core. Cluster 108 is an example of a closo tetrahedral cluster with three first-row... [Pg.139]
