MBP or MBP peptides are very commonly used to induce EAE. The MBP-induced disease in some strains of mice is often monophasic with inflammation and no demyelination. The mice recover completely after a single episode of a short and acute disease and become resistant to reinduction of EAE. Therefore, a combination of antigens involving proteins or peptides (Kuerten et al., 2006) or sphingoglycolipids (Raine et al., 1981) are often used to induce demyelination. [Pg.550]
