Antifatigue agents

Mild Antidepressant, Antifatigue Agents, useful in the treatment of mild reactive depressions arising from emotional exhaustion and mental fatigue. Drugs such as pipradol (7, 28, 87) (Meratran), methylphenidate (Ritalin) (74, 80,112), Sch 5472 (77, 97), and W-1206 (51, 55) (Reactivan) are representative of this class. They produce their antidepressant effect principally through psychomotor stimulation. [Pg.121]

The term antioxidant refers only to oxygen and in some cases temperature influence the designation antiozonant refers only to ozone influence. The term antifatigue agent is also used, because there are products with antioxidant function that also protect against dynamically induced crack formation without being anti-ozonants [229]. [Pg.326]

The term antioxidant is used to describe the inhibition of polymer peroxidation in both abiotic and biotic systems [6,8,11]. It embraces more specific technological terms such as antidegradants (thermoantioxidants), antifatigue agents (mechanooxidation inhibitors) and light stabilisers (photoantioxidants). It was seen above that peroxidation of carbon-chain polymers occurs by a free radical chain mechanism (reactions 1 and 2) and that the hydroperoxide products that are the intrinsic initiators for peroxidation dissociate to oxyl radicals under the influence of heat and light. Both hydroperoxide formation and hydroperoxide decompostion are thus catalysed by transition metal ions. [Pg.225]
