Anti-HSV-1 bioassay

Recently, combination therapy has been shown to be useful for viral infections. In in vitro anti-HSV-1 bioassay, SDC showed selective toxicity against HSV-1. To determine if there was antiviral synergism between SDC and ACV or GCV, HSV-1-infected cells were incubated in medium containing different concentrations of SDC and/or ACV/GCV. The combined activity of SDC and ACV/GCV against HSV-1 was assessed by the criteria reported by Spector et al. [26].
