Anionic MOFs cation exchange

The definition for catalytic purposes of a zeolite reads as follows a crystalline material with micropores and cation-exchange capacity that is insoluble in water and common organic solvents and has sufficient thermal stability that allows removal of all pore-filling agents present in the as-synthesized materials. This definition is narrower than that of the IZA Constitution, which includes mesoporous solids, metal organic frameworks (MOFs), cationic and anionic clays [3]. [Pg.243]

MOFs with anionic frameworks have cationic guests for charge balance. Exchange of such cations is a further mechanism for uptake of metals into MOFs. This may involve exchange of a guest cation for a different guest cation, or the new cation may also bind to the framework. An early study from Kim and coworkers reports... [Pg.352]

Dalgarno, Thallapally, and coworkers also report a system where exchange of an organic cation for a transition metal cation also leads to grafting of the metal onto the MOF framework. Complex (NH2Me2)2[Mn3(L)2]-9DMF, where L = tetrakis[4-(carboxyphenyl)oxamethyl]methane, has an anionic... [Pg.354]
