Collagen.—Collagens and procollagens have been visualized directly in polyacrylamide gels since the absorbance maxima for complexes of these glycoproteins with Coomassie blue R250 occurs at 520—535 nm compared with the maxima for other proteins of 550—560 nm.  [Pg.102]

The triple helix formation in type III collagen and type III pN-collagen starts exclusively at the set of three disulphide bridges that link the three chains at the C-terminal end. The growth of the helix proceeds from this single nucleus at a rather uniform rate in a zipper-like fashion. [Pg.102]
