Angelica shikokiana

The roots of Angelica shikokiana are cultivated in the Oita Prefecture of Japan, and used as substitute drug for Ginseng roots and called "Yama-Ninjin". We found that the EtOAc fraction of the roots of A. shikokiana inhibited the formation of LTs B4 and C4 in human neutrophils. The active substance was isolated and shown to be 3 (/ ), 4 (/ )-3 -epoxyangeloyloxy-4 -acetoxy-3, 4 -dihydroseselin (a new compound, YN-1) "Fig. (43)". YN-1 inhibited leukotriene formation in human neutrophils dose-dependently "Fig. (44)". [Pg.429]
