Aminoethyl-coupled membranes

The enzyme-membrane products formed by these reactions are called aminoethyl-coupled membranes. ... [Pg.477]

The solution viscosity decreased substantially only when the membrane was immersed in the solution, indicating that most of the enzymatic activity is associated with bound enzymes. The high activity of the membrane remaining at 96 h and the lack of residual enzyme in solution at that time indicate that the membrane-enzyme bond is stable. The membrane contains approximately 1 U of active enzyme per cm2, estimated from a comparison of the reactivities of the bound enzyme and the free enzyme. The enzyme attached to the membrane by the longest spacer, in the succinyl aminoethyl-coupled membrane system, exhibited the highest activity. [Pg.480]
