Aminoacids sulfur-containing

The adsorption of sulfur-containing aminoacids from the gaseous phase occurs in the molecular form, while sorption from solution is more favorable in zwitterion forms saving the hydration shell. 

The phenol-sulfide SC linker 1.28 (85) attached to Merrifield resin has been used to support peptides, with the exclusion of S-containing aminoacids. Oxidation of the sulfur atom with hydrogen peroxide increases the reactivity of the linker towards amines and allows the facile cleavage of the ester bond to release the final compounds into solution as amides. 

Other ligand frameworks around an iron ion are also suitable to produce rapid effective electron and energy transfer systems. One of the most interesting of these is in the ferredoxins. A particular ferredoxin has a molecular weight of about 6,000 and contains two independent Fe4 units in which the irons are linked into a cubic cage by sulfur atoms and are also bonded to another sulfur in an aminoacid, structure X.
