Ropinirole Amantadine

Opioids, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, corticosteroids, dopamine agonists (e.g., amantadine, bromocriptine, levodopa, pergolide, pramipexole, ropinirole), H2-receptor antagonists, anticholinergics (e.g., diphenhydramine, trihexylphenidyl), P-adrenergic blockers, clonidine, methyldopa, carbamazepine, phenytoin, baclofen, cyclobenzaprine, lithium, antidepressants (e.g., tricyclic antidepressants, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors), and interleukin-2... 

Drugs used to increase DA fundion are levodopa, tolcapone, entacapone, bromocriptine, pramipexole, ropinirole, and selegiline. Drugs that decrease ACh fundion are benztropine, trihexyphenidyl, and amantadine. The properties of each are described. 

Estrogens (HRT) and tobacco smoking may reduce the clearance of ropinirole. Amantadine and trihexyphenidyl appear not to alter the pharmacokinetics of ropinirole. 

The manufacturer notes that population analysis revealed that amantadine did not have any relevant effects on ropinirole pharmacokinetics. ... 

A 61-year-old woman with Parkinson s disease was given amantadine, followed over the next 6 years by pramipexole. ropinirole, co-careldopa, and entacapone [282 ]. She subsequently developed severe comeal edema. Amantadine was withdrawn and within 1 trwnth the comeal edema had completely resolved. The comeal thicknesses improved from 810 to 640 pm in the right eye and from 780 to 660 pm in the left eye.
