Then, the air-sampling scheme will be analyzed which was developed by governmental agencies in the United States to determine compliance with regulatory standards. It will be shown that this specialized scheme has limited scope and is poorly suited for use as a decision-making tool. Finally, air sampling schemes will be considered that offer an alternative for the evaluation of acute exposures.
