Alkynyl and Alkenyl Derivatives

Per- and poly-fluorovinyl copper compounds, Rp-Cu [e.g. Rp=CF2=CF, (Z)- or (E)-CF3CF=CF, (Z)-CF3CC1=CF, CF3CPh=CF] have been prepared in high yield from RpX (X=I or Br) on successive treatment with Cd or Zn in DMF and with CuX. 

The overall scheme occurs with retention of configuration. The vinylcopper reagents,stable at room temperature in the absence of O2 or moisture, undergo reactions with organic halides.
