Alkyl borates nitrates

Tables II to X give the melting points and, where applicable, the optical rotations of the inositols, inososes, inosamines, and quercitols, and of all of their known O-substituted derivatives. Anhydroinositols, although not substitution products in the strict sense, are included, as are the carbonyl-functional derivatives of the inososes. Halogen- and nitro-substituted cyclitols, and the C-methyl-inositols and their derivatives, are not included most of these compounds are referred to in the text. The derivatives are arranged in the following order salts (inosamines) or functional derivatives (inososes), carboxylic esters, borates, nitrates, sulfonic esters, phosphates, glycosides, acetals (and Schiff bases), ethers (and IV-alkyl derivatives), and anhydrides.

Classic A/-heterocychc ligands, eg, bipyridyl (bipy), terpyridyl, imidazole, pyrazine, phenanthroline, piperazine (including alkyl- and aryl-substituted derivatives), and polypyrazol-l-yl-borates (bis, tris, and tetra), have all been found to coordinate Th(IV) chlorides, perchlorates, and nitrates. Among cations, potassium, acetylcholine, some cationic surfactants (where the ion-exchanger ion is the / -chlorotetraphenylborate or tetra-phenylborate), calcium (long-chain alkyl esters of phosphoric acid as ion-exchanger ions), among anions, nitrate, perchlorate and tetrafluoro-borate (long-chain tetraalkylammonium cations in the membrane), etc., are determined with this type of ion-selective electrodes. 

The reagent system consists of 1.1 to 2.0 equivalents of silver(I) nitrate, perchlorate, tetrafluoro-borate, or triflate in nucleophilic solvents such as water (cosolvents acetone or acetonitrile) or alcohols, respectively, if allylic alcohols or allylic alkyl ethers, respectively, are desired.
