Alkoxysilanes trimethoxysilane

The synthesis of triethoxysilane (28) and trimethoxysilane (29) has also been achieved by direct process. In 1980 there were no direct processes for the production of alkoxysilanes. In 1995 Silbond in Weston, Michigan, and Carboline in St. Louis, Missouri, operated processes for the production of tetraethoxysilane in the United States, and OSi/Witco announced start-up of a process to produce triethoxysilane and tetraethoxysilane in TermoH, Italy. 

The hydrosilylation of carbonyl compounds with polymethylhydrosiloxane (PMHS) or other alkoxysilanes can be catalyzed by TBAF, at high efficiency [9]. The asymmetric version of this process has been developed by Lawrence and coworkers using chiral ammonium fluoride 7c prepared via the method of Shioiri [10]. The reduction of acetophenone was performed with trimethoxysilane (1.5 equiv.) and 7c (10 mol%) in THF at room temperature, yielding phenethyl alcohol quantitatively with 51% ee (R) (Scheme 4.6). This full IPN combines the network of an NLO active epoxy-based polymer and the network of an NLO active phenoxy-silicon polymer. l The epoxy-based NLO network is prepared from the epoxy prepolymer (BPAZO) based on the diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A and 4-(4 -nitrophenylazo)aniline functionalized with crosslinkable acryloyl groups. The second NLO network of a phenoxy-silicon polymer is based on an alkoxysilane dye (ASD) of (3-glycidoxypropyl)trimethoxysilane and 4(4 -nitrophenylazo)aniline, and the multifunctional phenoxyl molecule 1,1,1- tris(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethane (THPE).22 Figure 4 shows the chemical structures of BPAZO, ASD, and THPE. Inorganic phase - silica network, was formed by sol-gel process from alkoxysilane precursors - TEOS or alkoxysilane-endcapped prepolymer SED2000. This endcapped prepolymer was prepared by alkoxy functionalization of oligomer D2000 with (3-glycidyloxypropyl)trimethoxysilane (GTMS).
