Algorithm implementation

The ISA symbology provides different symbols for different types of actuators. Furthermore, variations for the controller symbol distinguish control algorithms implemented in DCS technology from panel-mounted single-loop controllers. 

A major shortage of the method is that the border positions and boundary pressure distributions between the hydrodynamic and contact regions have to be calculated at every step of computation. It is a difficult and laborious procedure because the asperity contacts may produce many contact regions with irregular and time-dependent contours, which complicates the algorithm implementation, increases the computational work, and perhaps spoils the convergence of the solutions. 

A NSS has a computational implementation we have called a GNDL [1,4]. The Fortran code of the algorithm implementing a GNDL can be found described in Program 1 below. The GNDL algorithm constitutes the link between the mathematical notation of the NSS and the computer codification of this operator.

All in all, the continued growth of computer power and development of theory and its algorithmic implementation will enable more physics e.g. van der Waals interactions, electron self-interaction, entropic effects) to be correctly captured and enable ultimately more speedy, accurate, and comprehensive (multi-scale and multi-phasic) simulations. Theory will be an ever more indispensible ally of experiment and continue to supply detail knowledge on molecular transformations, thereby propelling the growth of heterogeneous catalysis and enriching our world in years to come.
