Algal biorefineries microalgae

It is out of question that algal biomass can be utilized for the production of various bioproducts. However, significant improvements in the efficiency, cost structure and ability to scale-up algal growth, and lipid extraction are required to establish a commercially viable microalgae-based biorefinery. [Pg.22]

Microalgae could prove to be a promising candidate in the biorefinery process because of its valuable compounds viz. lipids, proteins, and carbohydrates. This process transforms algal biomass into beneficial products such as biofuels. [Pg.390]
