Aldehydes titanous chloride

Aldehyde und Ketone lassen sich durch Lithiumalanat/Titan(III)-chlorid reduktiv di-merisieren (S. 28 6 f.). 

Acetale von Alkanalen bzw. Alkanonen liefern mit Lithiumalanat/Titan(IV)-chlorid (2 1) in atherischer Losung die entsprechenden Ather in Ausbeuten von 70-90% d.Th., Acetale aromatischer Aldehyde und Ketone reagieren dagegen in Tetrahydrofuran bei 20° zu Olefinen als Kopplungsprodukten die Kopplungsreaktion tritt zuerst ein. So erhalt man z.B. aus Benzaldehyd-diathylacetal 85% d.Th. 1,2-Diathoxy-1,2-diphenyl-athan ne-ben 10% d.Th. Stilben4 ... 

Aromatische Nitro-Verbindungen lassen sich durch Titan(III)-chlorid zu Aminen reduzieren, aliphatische Nitro-Verbindungen bilden dagegen I mine4, die bei der Aufarbei-tung in Aldehyde oder Ketone iibergefiihrt werden ... 

Enantioselective ally lotion.1 The reaction of 2 with allylmagnesium chloride in ether affords a chiral orange allyltitanium complex 3. This complex reacts with an aldehyde at —78° to afford homoallyl alcohols in 55-88% yield and in 86-94% ee and with release of 1 and a titanate that can be reconverted to CpTiCl3 (equation I). Reaction of 3 with aryl ketones requires a temperature of 0°, and the enantioselectiv-ity is only about 50%.
