Blood albumin

A few important substances that are routinely analyzed in a clinical laboratory with the aid of an Autoanalyzer are, namely serum-glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT) creatine-phophokinase (CPK) alkaline-phosphatase (AP) belonging to the class of enzymes and a host of biochemical substances, for instance bilirubin, serum albumin, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), uric acid, creatinine, total protein, glucose, cholesterol, besides a few common inorganic ions, such as Cl, Ca2+, K+, Na+. [Pg.66]

With the use of portable neutron activation systems developed at the University of Birmingham, we have measured the Cd level in left kidney and in liver of 309 workers (exposed arid non-exposed) employed in two cadmium smelters in Belgium (Reels et al. 1981a). At the same time, the renal status of the subjects was evaluated by determining the urinary concentration of total protein, 32 niicroglobulin, and albumin. Blood and urine levels of cadmium were also determined. Kidney function was considered to be abnormal when the urinary concentration of 32 i icroglobulin exceeds 0.2 mg/g creatinine, or albumin 12 mg/g creatinine, or total protein 250 mg/g creatinine. [Pg.128]

A urinalysis was performed that was negative for any signs of infection, albumin, blood cells, or sediment. A PSA test was performed, and it was normal with no change from those performed in previous years. A routine blood chemistry profile showed an increase in his cholesterol level (200 mg/dL), with a low-density lipoprotein of 160 mg/dL and high-density lipoprotein of 45 mg/dL. [Pg.643]
