Ischemia modified albumin (IMA), measured by the albumin cobalt binding test, has been approved by the FDA for its negative predictive value in concert with a normal EGG and a normal cardiac troponin. This test relies on changes in the binding of cobalt to the albumin molecule when ischemia is present.
