Aging shrinkage

Schwind-mass, n. amount of shrinkage, shrink age shrinkage gage, -sucht, /. consump tion, phthisis. [Pg.404]

Such work as has been published indicates that superplasticizers do not adversely affect either creep or drying shrinkage with the possible exception that with flowing concrete early age shrinkage cracking may be increased under drying conditions, unless adequate curing precautions are taken. [Pg.12]

Type of damage Fracture, crack, deformation, corrosion, wear, discoloration... (or signs of fatigue, aging, shrinkage, distortion, creep, impact)... [Pg.3402]

The early age shrinkage can be drastically reduced, by an order of magnitude, in autoclave curing, leading to a very stable material [9,58], This is consistent with the drastic reduction in the creep of autoclaved cured composite, with specific creep values declining by an order of magnitude from about 35 x 10 MPa specific creep of the room temperature cured composite [9], These characteristics demonstrate the benefits of the heat curing which is applied in RPC/DUCTAL . [Pg.496]

The oscillating jet method is not suitable for the study of liquid-air interfaces whose ages are in the range of tenths of a second, and an alternative method is based on the dependence of the shape of a falling column of liquid on its surface tension. Since the hydrostatic head, and hence the linear velocity, increases with h, the distance away from the nozzle, the cross-sectional area of the column must correspondingly decrease as a material balance requirement. The effect of surface tension is to oppose this shrinkage in cross section. The method is discussed in Refs. 110 and 111. A related method makes use of a falling sheet of liquid [112]. [Pg.34]

Incorporated in PP, P.R.48 4 often causes aging, which makes the plastic brittle and precludes the use of P.R.48 4 in this medium. The effect on PE is less noticeable. The shrinkage of PE extrusion products at higher processing temperatures is practically unaffected by P.R.48 4. [Pg.329]

The method of placement makes shoterete potentially more variable and more anisotropic than normal concrete. Consequently, the development of the physical and mechanical properties such as strength, shrinkage, permeability and durability is drastically different from those of normal concrete. The effects are particularly noticeable during the very early and later ages [107, 109, 117]. [Pg.375]
