The conclusion of all these thermodynamic studies is the existence of thiazole-solvent and thiazole-thiazole associations. The most probable mode of association is of the n-rr type from the lone pair of the nitrogen of one molecule to the various other atoms of the other. These associations are confirmed by the results of viscosimetnc studies on thiazole and binary mixtures of thiazole and CCU or QHij. In the case of CCU, there is association of two thiazole molecules with one solvent molecule, whereas cyclohexane seems to destroy some thiazole self-associations (aggregates) existing in the pure liquid (312-314). The same conclusions are drawn from the study of the self-diffusion of thiazole (labeled with C) in thiazole-cyclohexane solutions (114). 

Figure 1 presents a scheme for the formation of B—B bonds in binary metal borides, i.e., the occurrence of one-, two- and three-dimensional B aggregates as a function of the periodic group of the metal constituent.

Lastly, this chapter presents the concept of aggregation as a means of reducing the binary dimension in large-scale problems. In the examples cited, the objective values predicted by the aggregation model were very close to those predicted by the general formulation. However, the aggregation model requires a much smaller number of binary variables which is concomitant with significantly reduced computational effort.

Molecular Group 3-5 compounds are currently of considerable interest for two reasons (a) they can serve as volatile low molecular weight single-source precursors for the CVD synthesis of binary and multinary group 3/5 semiconductors with remarkable optoelectronic properties (54), or (b) they are potentially useful cocatalysts for the polymerization reactions of unsaturated organic substrates (55, 56). The IC, values of the vinca binary alkaloids for microtubule assembly were measured from their concentration-dependent effects on steady-state turbidity levels. Values are presented from two separate experiments. The products induced by a high concentration (10 M) of each compound with MTP or steady-state microtubules assembled from MTP were determined by transmission electron microscopy of steady-state solutions from at least two separate preparations of protein with similar results.
