The expected outcomes for the patient depend on the type and severity of the seizure but may include an optimal response to tiierapy (control of seizure), management of common adverse drug reactions (includes minimizing injury and maintaining normal oral mucous membranes), reduction in anxiety, and an understanding of and compliance with the prescribed therapeutic regimen. 

None of these factors alone should be considered to indicate a Type B reaction, and any taken singly can be associated with a Type A reaction. This list should be taken as a starting point in determining if an adverse drug reaction is a type of drug allergy. The following are additional considerations. 

Types of adverse drug reaction There are several classifications of adverse reactions, but the most commonly employed define two principal kinds (A and B) and three subordinate classes (C, D and E). 

All this means that it is difficult to collect information on adverse drug reactions from randomized, controlled trials for systematic review. This can be seen from the evidence provided in Table 1, which shows the proportion of different types of information that have been used in the preparation of two volumes of the Side Effects of Drugs Annual, proportions that are likely be the same in this Encyclopedia.
