Advantages of Cyanoacrylate Adhesives

One-part. Cyanoacrylates are one-part adhesives, eliminating the need for mixing or metering, but retaining long pot lives. Surface activation is needed occasionally, but this is the exception rather than the rule. [Pg.298]

100% Reactive. Cyanoacrylates contain no solvents, thus removing the need for solvent evaporation and recovery equipment, or the need for dryers such as are required in the case of water-based adhesives. [Pg.298]

Rapid cure. These adhesives cure rapidly at room temperatures, eliminating the need for long-term fixturing or heating. Handling strength [Pg.298]

High strength. High bond strengths are possible with cyanoacrylates. Tensile strengths of 35 MPa and OLS strength of 20 MPa are common on properly prepared metals. [Pg.299]

Versatility. Cyanoacrylates are capable of joining most substrates, either to themselves or to each other. The major exceptions are untreated polyethylene, polypropylene, and Teflon. [Pg.299]

Advantages of cyanoacrylate adhesives include rapid curing, solvent-free nature, high bond strength, versatility, solvent resistance and their comprising only one part. [Pg.100]

Many of the advantages of cyanoacrylate adhesives have been previously discussed, and derive from their unique combination of attributes. Still a summary of these is in order. They include ... [Pg.470]
