Collapsed adolescence

When a collapsed adolescence occurs, the only child s period of trial independence is frequently protracted. In this case, parents may have to extend their active role several years beyond what they might normally expecteven into their son or daughter s mid-twenties. Such an eventuality is perfectly okay because there is no official timetable for growing up that must be met.
