Addition to the Carbonyl Bond

Although the reverse process is certainly very favored, free radical intramolecular addition to the carbonyl bond has been reported in some instances. The selectivity toward the carbon or the oxygen atom is very high but the reasons for this are not clear and more exhaustive studies are required.
