1 Addition of hydrogen atoms to alkenes There have been many studies of reactions of the type72-81 H+ C=C - CH-C  

The emphasis in this work has been on the behavior of the excited alkyl radical. This may change. New techniques for precision measurement of the rates of H-and D-atom reactions have been reported84,85. Taken together with the knowledge gained about the subsequent reactions of the alkyl radical, a more detailed examination of the excitation process may be possible and fruitful.
