To install a new menu command whenever Excel is started, create an Auto Open procedure in the Personal Macro Workbook. To install a new menu command when a particular workbook is opened, create an Auto Open procedure in that workbook. Use the MenuBars and Menus VBA keywords to specify where the new Menultem is to be added, with the Add keyword. The syntax of the Add method is ... 

Type is msoControlButton. Id and Parameter can be omitted see VBA On-line Help for an explanation of the use of these arguments. If Before, which specifies the position in the menu, is omitted, the command is added at the end of the menu. Set Temporary to True to make the custom menu command temporary temporary menu commands remain in the menu until you exit from Excel. 

ADDING A MENU COMMAND BY MEANS OF AN AUTO OPEN MACRO In Excel 5/95, any macro with the name Auto Open will be run automatically whenever the workbook containing that macro is opened. You can still employ Auto Open procedures in Excel 97 or Excel 2000. 

Windows 9x and 2000 are very complex operating systems. At any one time, there are several files open in memory. If you accidentally hit the power switch and turn the computer off while these files are open, there is a good chance these files will be corrupted. For this reason, Microsoft has added the Shut Down command under the Start menu. When you select this option, Windows presents you with three choices, as shown in Figure 12.12. 

The second menu bar entry, data, gives another view of the data, this time sorted by the data items and not by the commands. Here you can find the molecule added previously. Depending on your preferred method of navigation in the program, this does provide a quick method to access the respective data item. 

The interface (Fig. 1) was designed for easy and minimal interaction. Each user must train the voice recognition engine to be able to work accurately with the program. The user selection is done from a drop-down menu. Voice commands are used to start and end a run. The preparation and start of the run consist of two voice commands Ready, then Inject at the injeetion of the sample. The Stop command ends the run. During the run, all of the user s comments are added in a text box along with the retention time. These comments can be edited at the end of the run.
