The question has often been raised as to possible ill effects of the -flooding" of tissues with lipid especially with unesteri-fied fatty acids and/or partial acyl glycerides. From the practical standpoint, it can be pointed out that animals and humans have received very large quantities of Intralipid without adverse reactions. Some of these data are given in Table 7 and are largely compiled from data given by Wretlind (1972). Obviously prudence dictates that moderate quantities of fat be given, especially until much more experience even with Intralipid is accumulated. [Pg.105]
