Actinide complexes esters

The actinides have a high degree of specificity for neutral and anionic oxygen-containing organic molecules. The actinide complexes with O -donor ligands that are most widely studied include alkoxides, aryloxides amide, carboxylates, and oxalates. Complexes with alcohols, ethers, esters, ketones, aldehydes, ketoenolates, and carbamates have also been reported. [Pg.21]

The most widely used neutral extractants, however, are the organophosphoms compounds, of which the ester, TBP, is the most important. TBP forms complexes with the actinide elements thorium, uranium, neptunium, and plutonium by bonding to the central metal atom via the phosphoryl oxygen in the structure... [Pg.598]

Phosphine Chalcogenides as Ligands. - The complexation of lanthanide and actinide ions by phosphine oxide ligands remains an active area, and a theoretical assessment of the coordination of phosphine oxides (and phosphate esters) by trivalent lanthanide ions has appeared." Trivalent lanthanide complexes of the functionalised enol phosphine oxide (265), (and a related phosphonate), have been describedComplexes of thorium(iv) with bis(di-phenylphosphino) ethane dioxide and bis(diphenylphosphinoyl)amide have also been characterised." Calixarene systems which bear phosphine oxide... [Pg.36]

In attempts to discover new challenging catalytic reactions for actinide based complexes, Bamea et al. reported their surprising activity towards the polymerization of cyclic mono- and diesters [107]. This discovery arouses the conceptual question about the activity of actinide-aUcoxo complexes. Hence, to expand the scope of the actinides in catalysis, the Tishchenko reaction (dimerization of aldehydes to give the corresponding esters) was studied. The catalytic Tishchenko reaction was investigated between similar (21) or different (22) aldehydes to give the symmetric or asymmetric esters, respectively. In order to show the generality of the process and to be able to propose a suitable mechanistic pathway, two... [Pg.177]

Fermium readily forms complexes with a variety of organic ligands, e.g. j9-diketones [18], hydroxycarboxylic adds [4, 15, 20-22], organophosphorus esters [23-25], and alkylamines [26]. Lactic and a-hydroxyisobutyric adds have long been used as eluants for inner-series separation of trivalent actinides by cation-exchange chromatography. However, more recently, di-2-ethylhexyl-orthophosphoric acid [27] and Alamine 336 (a mixed n-octyl and n-decyl tertiary amine) [28] have been used for similar separations of Fm by solvent extraction chromatography. [Pg.218]
