Acoustic density meter

Any combination of flowmeter and suitable specific gravity (density) meter (Section 6.6) can in theory be employed to produce a mass rate of flow. However, these so-called indirect meters have a limited range and accuracy and require careful and frequent calibration and maintenance. An instrument based on the turbine flowmeter (Volume 1, Section 6.3.9) and acoustic density meter (Section 6.6.1) has been employed with good results<8) (see Fig. 6.5). [Pg.445]

The principle of the acoustic meter can be equally applied to the monitoring of gas densities. A high sensitivity is required as the variations in density involved are... [Pg.488]

There have been a number of proposals for r-f heating of plasma columns by a variety of modes, both radial and axial.A certain amount of analytical theory as well as numerical simulations have been carried out, but to date no scaling laws for reactor relevant plasmas have been reported. An experiment on radial acoustic mode heating of a 2-meter long low density (10 ) staged theta pinch is currently under construction at the University of Washington. [Pg.216]
