Considerable work has been carried out on the secondary metabolite composition of the nudibranch Austrodoris kerguelenensis (A. kerguelensis, A. mcmurdensis). Diterpenoic acid glycerides (Structures 7.70-7.77) have been reported from several different collections,158-162 and tissue distributions of the secondary metabolites have been studied (see Section III.A).163...

Another dorid nudibranch, Doris verrucosa has been reported (70) to contain an analogue of methylthioadenosine [84] along with diterpenoic acid glycerides, verrucosin A [85] and verrucosin B [86]. The carbon skeleton of the vemicosins could be derived from isocopalane diterpenes which formerly were considered to be the biogenetic precursors of the tetracyclic spongiane diterpenes.
