Acetylorsellinic acid

Many of the structural variations found in aromatic fungal metabolites that are tetraketides are also found in the pentaketides that are biosynthesized by Penicillium and Aspergillus species. Several fungal metabolites have a carbon skeleton that is derived from acetylorsellinic acid. This compoimd is itself a metabolite of Penicillium brevi-compactum.
