The enkephalinase inhibitors, candoxatril (UK 79 300), the indanyl ester (pro-drug) of the (+)-isomer of candoxatrilat (UK 69 578) (see Figure 6.5) [130,131] and sinorphan ((5)-acetorphan) (see Figure 6.12) [132] are undergoing evaluation in humans for hypertension and congestive heart failure.
