Selective absorption of olefins and aromatic hydrocarbons was carried out in an absorber (diameter 6 mm) containing 2 ml of concentrated sulphuric acid on a layer of fibre-glass. The length of the packing layer was 43 cm. At the outlet of the absorber a layer of molecular sieve 4A was placed this sieve adsorbs methane, water, ethane, acetylene and propylene, but not propane and hi -molecular-weight compounds. A few granules of Ascarite were also added. The reactor absorbs olefins, toluene and higher aromatic hydrocarbons at 54°C benzene is absorbed incompletely. [Pg.167]

Scrubbing andDesliming. Sylvinite ores in North America contain 1—6 wt % water-insoluble clays. A significant portion of these clays is less than 0.002 mm in diameter. If not removed or controUed in some manner, clay bodies that are dispersed in the flotation solution, ie, brine saturated with KCl and NaCl, absorb the amine coUector, which is added to effect flotation separation, and the coUector is rendered ineffective. Clay is the most troublesome impurity encountered in the processing of sylvinite ore. [Pg.525]

Surgical sutures are sterile, flexible strands used to close wounds or to tie off tubular structures such as blood vessels. Made of natural or synthetic fiber and usually attached to a needle, they are available ia monofilament or multifilament forms. Sutures are classified by the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) (1) as either absorbable or nonabsorbable. The USP also categorizes sutures according to size (diameter) and Hsts certain performance requirements. Sutures are regulated by the Food and Dmg Administration (FDA) as medical devices under the Food, Dmg, and Cosmetics (FDC) Act of 1938, the Medical Device Act of 1976, and the Medical Device Reporting regulation of 1995. [Pg.265]
