A locus organization

Since overlapping clones failed to provide evidence of the proposed organization of the A locus (Jim Miller, personal communication), definitive mapping of this locus may have to await linkage analysis using pulsed-field electrophoresis [129]. [Pg.101]

The first report regarding the organization of the human A locus was from Hie-ter et al. [130] who identified six CA genes tandemly arranged on 50 kb of DNA. [Pg.101]

Udey and Blomberg [131] have recently shown that CA], CA2 and CA3 each have a single JA segment located approximately 1.3-1.7 kb upstream. In addition, hybridization studies have indicated the presence of at least one JA segment 5 to each of the other three CA genes (CA4, CA5, CAh) [131], [Pg.101]

There is, as yet, no information regarding the organization of the VA genes and VA gene families in man. It does not appear, however, that VA genes are interdi-gitated among the JACA cluster [131,132]. [Pg.101]
