A-Halonitroso compound

Hydroximoyl halides (4) are conveniently prepared by halogenation of the respective aldoximes (5), for which a number of halogenating agents such as chlorine (38), ferf-butyl hypochlorite, A -chlorosuccinimide (NCS) (39), or A -bromosuccin-imide (NBS) (40) have been employed. A plausible mechanistic course involves Hal addition and proton loss to give an a-halonitroso compound, often observed as a transient blue-green color, as shown for the chloro case (Scheme 6.1). [Pg.365]

Some comprehensive reviews of the chemistry of C-nitroso compounds already exist. Since the latest general review was published, no other relevant new findings on the formation of nitroso compounds by substitution processes have been reported. Reviews of special interest deal with the syndieses and properties of aliphatic fluoronitroso compounds, nitrosoalkenes and nitrosoalkynes, electrophilic C-ni-troso compounds, a-halonitroso compounds and nitrosation mechanisms. ... [Pg.104]

Reaction of Alkyl Phosphites with a-Halonitroso and a-Halonitro Compounds." Edited by... [Pg.102]

Several aliphatic nitroso compounds are known to act as hetero-dienophiles, but only the a-halonitroso type has been used to any significant extent. It has been known for about 40 years - that these oc chloronitroso compounds react readily with 1,3-dienes to yield unstable adducts [Eq. (11)]. [Pg.45]
