A brief tutorial on oxygen

Oxygen is a gas. Colourless and odourless, without it we suffocate. Yet when its partial reduction products, hydroxyl radicals and peroxy radicals, overwhelm our body s defence systems, oxygen ultimately kills us. It is these partial reduction products that are the most likely cause of ageing. 

Oxygen itself is a reactive gas and a strong oxidising agent. Anything that bums in air, bums more vigorously in pure oxygen. It is fortunate indeed
