A basic mission and theory

This Total Safety Culture mission is much easier said than done, but it is achievable through a variety of safety processes rooted in the disciplines of engineering and psychology. Generally, a Total Safety Culture requires continual attention to three domains. [Pg.25]

Environment factors (including equipment, tools, physical layout, procedures, standards, and temperature). [Pg.25]

Person factors (including people s attitudes, beliefs, and personalihes). [Pg.25]

Behavior factors (including safe and at-risk work practices, as well as going beyond the call of duty to intervene on behalf of another person s safety). [Pg.25]

This triangle of safety-related factors has been termed The Safety Triad (Geller, 1989 Geller et al., 1989) and is illustrated in Pigure 2.3. [Pg.25]
