5a,8a-Epidioxysterol

Several 5a,8a-epidioxysterols with A or and conventional side chains have been isolated from sponges [43]. Two new unsaturated sterols having A and 4-methylene nuclei, conicasterol and theonellasterol, were isolated as the principal sterols from the Red Sea sponges Theonella conica (Kieschnick) and Theonella swinhoei (Gray), respectively [44]. [Pg.204]
