V quantifies the incorporation of pjphos-phate into LC20, the 28-kDa protein, DS, and CD of arterial muscles contracted with PDBu and other agents for 60 min. The 8 jjlM PDBu-induced LC20 phosphorylation, in both the presence and absence of Ca , exceeds that produced by KCl or NE, and it is comparable to that in histamine-stimulated muscles. Under the same conditions, PDBu, with or without Ca , increases the phosphate content of the 28-kDa protein, DS, and CD by two- or threefold. It is surprising that phosphorylations amounting from 0.5 to 2.0 mol phosphate mol protein can proceed in arterial muscle treated with PDBu in a Ca -independent manner.

V records the various insulins we have synthesized and the yields of their production . These insulins include the allsynthetic sheep, all-synthetic human, half-synthetic sheep, bovine, and porcine insulins and an insulin which has not been found in any of the species examined and which we tentatively designated as insulin The latter insulin was produced by combining

V reports results when a polar and non-polar compound is tested. These results again demonstrate comparability between the four methods used.

V represents the relationship betwenn half wave potentials and acidity for the binuclear complexes with a completely different sequence of protonated compounds. All of these structures are different from type I described above and they cannot be oxidized to the tin of the mononuclear compound. Additional proof for this unsymmetric protonation sequence has been the isolation of several compounds which are presently being studied and one of which has been identified as H Y.SnCl, 2 H,0.
