D-12 illustrates the temperature profile for the samples and the water content at various stages of drying. During the pi aiy drying stage, the TEA solution remained at a lower temperature showing faster drying and the temperature increased after 13 hours showing evidence for lower water content. After 17.5 hours of cycle time, the TBAsolution sample reached 1 C while the water sample remained at 4 C. The freeze-dried material with TEA showed very low moisture content compared to the material freeze dried in water that showed 0.22 percent moisture. The residual TEA was 65 ppm.

D-12 shows that each type of insulin has specific characteristics relating to its speed and duration of action. Hence, meal patterns must be coordinated so that carbohydrate feedings throughout the day correspond with the times of maximum action of the injected insulin. Typical patterns follow.

D-13 shows the calculated and experimental evolution of the pH during the potentiometric titration of 0.002, 0.004 and 0.008 m Zr in 1 m perchlorate solution. The relatively large error is due to the fact that titration volumes had to be deduced in the fit.

D-14 illustrates proposed in-market surveillance guidelines. Assuming that the recommended preclinical and clinical tests using probiotics detected no adverse effects, passive surveillance for in-market monitoring and level 2 long-term follow-up strategies are recommended. Chapter 7 provides more information about the committee s recommendations on in-market surveillance.

D-14 shows the ealeulated and experimental evolution of the pH during the potentiometric titration of 0.003, 0.007 and 0.028 m Zr in 1.05 m perchlorate solution. The uncertainty of individual measurement is smaller than the symbol size in the figure.
