Hypothetical steps in solution process.

Hypothetical stereochemical mechanism for abortive transamination during the glutamate decarboxylase reaction is envisioned to be involved in both the normal decarboxylation reaction and abortive transamination.

Hypothetical stereochemical mechanism for the pyruvyl-containing amino acid decarboxylases consistent with retention of configuration at the a-carbon of the amino acid. The a-carboxyl function is arbitrarily positioned above the si face of the initial ketimine intermediate.

Hypothetical structure of a bifluorophore capable of recognition of guamdinhim ion.

Hypothetical structure of a dinuclear complex with trans-arranged pyrimidine bases

Hypothetical structure of a molecular complexed interfacial film at a propellant water interface. From Sanders . The oriented liquid crystal nature of molecular complexes with their attendant layers of oriented water molecules suggests that the interfacial region around an emulsified propellant droplet can be viewed as consisting of alternating shells of oriented water and molecular complex molecules. The propellant interface would consist of a monolayer of adsorbed molecular complex molecules with the polar heads oriented towards an adjacent hydration layer. The hydration layer of water molecules in turn would be surrounded with a bimolecular shell of complex molecules with the polar heads on one side of the shell oriented towards the inner hydration layer and the polar heads on the other side oriented towards an outer hydration shell. This configuration of alternating layers of oriented water and bimolecular complex molecules would extend into the bulk phase with diminishing orientation until it disappeared.

Hypothetical structure of a petroleum asphaltene

Hypothetical structure of a polyuronate A l3 micelle complex.

Hypothetical structure of a stimulus-response pathway. The linear part of this stimulus-response pathway comprises 6 elementary times , the minimal cylical Part 2

Hypothetical structure of aggregates formed by 5-hydroxytryptamine and ATP. Reproduced with permission from Pletscher et al. .

Hypothetical structure of an Immobiline gel and mechanism of the focusing process. The acrylamide acid and basic groups are shown grafted onto the polyacrylamide matrix. Two proteins are shown migrating in the gel at the times f 0, at f 1 and finally at the steady state, where they reach their respective pi values as points of zero net charge.

Hypothetical structure of apple pectin showing I xylogalacturonan region, II region with arabinan side-chains, III rhamnogalacturonan region making up the hairy region .

Hypothetical structure of APS in HMW DOM. Spectroscopic and molecular-level analyses suggest that approximately one-third of APS is neutral sugars, one-third amino sugars, and one-third unidentified carbohydrate. The consistency in monosaccharide distribution, and the fixed relative amount of acetate to total carbohydrate suggests these portions of HMW DOM are coupled into the same macromolecular stmcture. Further work needs to be done to establish the coupling of neutral and amino sugars directly, and to identify the unknown component of APS to bring molecular-level and spectroscopic measurements into better agreement.

Hypothetical structure of C540.
