Polyethylene oxides and polyethyleneimines are of great interest because of their ability to form a wide variety of metal and salt complexes. We have anchored polyethylene oxide oligomers (n=l-33) and polyimines (n=l-4) to zirconium phosphate type layers. The polymers are first converted to phosphates or phosphonates which in turn react with Zr(IV) solutions to form the layered derivatives. Cross-linking of the layers has also been accomplished. Preliminary structural and complexing behavior of these layered materials is presented. It is demonstrated that the NaSCN-polyethyleneoxide... [Pg.178]

An electrochemical system (solid-solution interface) can be represented by the same equivalent electrical circuit, displaying in most cases the same impedance plot as we have for polyethylene oxide zirconium phosphate. Here, the value of the capacitor and resistor is obtained in the same way as before. In addition, the... [Pg.186]

Conductivity measurements were performed on the polyethylene oxide zirconium phosphate-NaSCN complex (x = 22, n = 2.0) between room temperature and 100 °C. Conductivities of the order 10 ohmr cm l at room temperature were obtained, having an increment by an order of magnitude with an increase in... [Pg.188]
