Zigzag stitches

Zigzag stitches are sewn as a single seam or hem using zigzag-shaped stitches. Zigzag stitches are mainly used to sew strips of elastic to fabrics, particularly jersey, swimwear and sportswear (Figure 10.45). [Pg.269]

Make a blotter from two 25 X 25-cm squares of Whatman 3MM paper by stitching them together with a zigzag stitch around the edges and then cutting two circular 1.5-cm holes with a sharp cork borer in appropriate positions for the sample and marker dye origins (Fig. 4). Blotters can be reused many times, but a separate blotter should be used for each pH. [Pg.434]

Stitch-width dial. Allows you to control the size of zigzag stitches... [Pg.131]

The principle developed here is to integer multiple optical fibre loops and curves within a thin textile substrate, the light being released by macrobendings, as illustrated in Fig. 4.12. With embroidery, the patterns described by the fibres (curves, loops, zigzags etc.) and the substrates (textile, membrane, paper etc.) to which they are stitched define the characteristics of the light emitted by the whole fabric. [Pg.79]
