This study confirms that the 1-butyl, 3-methyl imidazolium methanesulfonate can be successfully used as a structure directing agent for the synthesis of MFI type zeolites in water rich media. However, the resulted materials present more interrupted framework structure character, which is thermally instable. More detailled study of the synthetic parameters, such as the H2O/IL ratio and the nature of the employed IL anion is currently in progress.
