Zearalenone, reproductive effects

One of the studies cited above ( 7) found that vomitoxin can produce reproductive effects in laboratory animals. Zearalenone, a mycotoxin known to produce reproductive effects on swine (24) and lengthen their estrus cycle ( ), is often found along witlTvomi-toxin in contaminated grain. Thus, it is important that vomitoxin be tested both alone and in combination with zearalenone to determine if it adversely effects the reproductive system of swine and/or cattle. 

Recently, much concern has been expressed about the effect of synthetic chemicals that have estrogen-like effects.
