Young, William John

Edward Fenton was a brother-in-law of Sir John Hawkins, having married Thomasine Gonson, a sister of Sir John s wife. He served with Sir Martin Frobisher in his first and second Arctic voyages but his voyage to Brazil was an utter failure, and he had a violent quarrel with young William Hawkins. Fenton commanded the Mary Rose in the fleet which dispersed the Spanish Armada in 1588. He died at Deptford in 1603. [Pg.253]
